Sage Technology is leading an industry push for safety improvements in permit to work practices in Australia.

Sage was a joint organiser and facilitator of the Safe Alliance Innovation in Permit to Work and Isolation Conference held at Surfer's Paradise last month.

More than 40 delegates from a range of power generation, oil and gas, and manufacturing companies attended the two day conference.

Sessions covered a range of topics including:

  • A case study of Woodside Energy's implementation of an Integrated Safe System of Work (iSSoW)
  • Best practices in permit to work, isolation and risk management
  • Research into isolation related incidents
  • Technological innovations in lockout equipment and permit to work software
  • How to effectively implement an electronic permit to work system
  • The effects of legislation and regulation in achieving safety improvements
  • Changing the safety culture

The delegates also shared their experiences and concerns about permit to work safety and discussed the need for a national permit to work committee to lead reform in this critical safety area.

The conference was organised and run by Sage Technology, Mayo Hardware and Smart Staff International.
